As it is well known, Marx, Durkheim, and Weber are the main pillars of the core of the classical sociological tradition. Although their perspectives and contributions differed in regard to the sociology of religion, each of them considered the subject associated with the advent of modernity. In this sense, they handled the relations between religion and society in the context of modernity, which is dependent on the foundations of rationalism by which construction of rational society consisting of rational individuals is enabled.
