Eğiticilerin öğren ci hemşirelerin manevi bakım algısını etkileyen faktörlerin farkında olmaları gereklidir.Öğe Fluid Control and Its Predictors among Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis: A Cross-Sectional Study(SciEP, 04/12/2025) Kara, BelgüzarObjective: Adherence to fluid restrictions is critical in patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD). However, limiting fluid intake is the most stressful aspect of treatment in this population. This study aimed to determine the level of fluid control and its predictors among patients undergoing HD. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a convenience sample of 110 patients treated in two HD centers in Türkiye, using an information form and the Fluid Control in Hemodialysis Patients Scale (FCHPS). Multivariate linear regression analysis with backward elimination was performed to examine the predictors of fluid control. Results: The mean FCHPS total score (47.26 ± 13.82) was slightly lower than a moderate level of fluid control. The body mass index (BMI; unstandardized β = −0.44, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) [-0.80, -0.07], p = 0.021), the interdialytic weight gain (IWG; unstandardized β = −7.24, 95% CI [-9.20, -5.29], p < 0.001), and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) thirst score (unstandardized β = −0.84, 95% CI [-1.68, -0.01], p = 0.043) were independent predictors for the FCHPS scores, after controlling for all other independent variables. Approximately 57.8% of the variance in fluid control was explained by BMI, IWG, and the VAS thirst score. Conclusion: The study revealed that fluid control is a challenging issue for patients undergoing HD. The patients with higher BMI, IWG, and thirst intensity were more likely to have difficulty with fluid control. A greater understanding of fluid control and its related factors could contribute to developing tailored interventions.Öğe Nursing students’ metaphorical perceptions of professional communication and the concept of nursing in their first clinical practice: qualitative research(BMC Nursing, 2024) İçigen Yıldız, Ayşegül; Sönmez, SinemBackground Nursing education combines theoretical knowledge and clinical practice to prepare nursing students to meet the evolving demands of healthcare services. Understanding nursing students’ metaphorical perceptions of the nursing profession and professional communication during their first clinical experiences can provide valuable insights into their professional identity and communication skills, as well as giving information about necessary improvements in nursing education. This study aimed to reveal the metaphorical perceptions of nursing students regarding the concepts of professional communication and nursing during their first clinical practices. Methods The study was conducted using a phenomenological design, a qualitative research method. A “student information form” and a “metaphor form,” developed by the researchers, were used as data collection tools. Participants’ sociodemographic data were analyzed on the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The analysis and evaluation of the metaphors used by nursing students for the concepts of nursing and professional communication were carried out in five stages by following the characteristics outlined in the qualitative data analysis approach called Metaphor Analysis. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) checklist was followed in the study. Results All 45 participants in the study were first-year nursing students, with 81.0% being female and the average age being 19.88?±?0.96 years. Of the participants, 66.7% had chosen the nursing department willingly, and 57.1% had preferred it due to job opportunities. Participants generated 35 metaphors for the nursing profession, which were categorized into four groups, and 32 metaphors related to professional communication, which were classified into six groups. Conclusion The metaphorical perceptions of nursing students during their first clinical practices provided profound insights into how they experienced professional communication and the nursing profession. These metaphors are of great importance in understanding the challenges, the skills gained, and the emotional responses encountered during the students’ professional development processes.Öğe The effectiveness of relaxation exercises on fatigue in hemodialysis patients: a meta-analysis study(Revista da Associação Médica Brasileira, 2024) Yıldız İçigen, Ayşegül; Erdem, EmineSUMMARY , Emine Erdem2 OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to determine the effect of relaxation exercise on fatigue symptoms in hemodialysis patients. METHODS: This is a meta-analysis study. The literature review was carried out by searching studies published between 2011 and 2020. This metaanalysis was recorded on PROSPERO in the National Health Research Institute (Registration no: CRD42022313646). RESULTS: Seven studies meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the meta-analysis. The effect size of the studies included in the meta-analysis was found to be g=1.232 (p=0.028), which indicated a “huge effect size.” The scale used in the subgroup analyses, the application time of the relaxation exercise, and the number of relaxation exercise applications were evaluated, and a significant difference was found at p<0.05. CONCLUSION: Relaxation exercises can be used as an effective method for reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients. KEYWORDS: Exercise. Fatigue. Meta-analysis. Nursing. Renal dialysis.
