dc.description.abstractDigital transformation is a new paradigm that brings strategy and customer-oriented changes in infrastructure and processes in modern organizations based on contemporary information and communication technologies. Digital transformation is not a one-time process but offers a holistic pproach to the implementation of new methods to improve organizational performance by increasing organizational capabilities and competitiveness. Digital twin technology is a new concept that has become the center of attention in the fields of academia and industry in recent years. Digital twin technologies allow manufacturers to remotely monitor, view and control both assets and production by copying the physical model. Digital twin technology provides data integration between physical and virtual machines, offering smart production, better quality, higher productivity, lower cost and increased production flexibility. Thanks to digital twin technologies, businesses obtain copies of physical production assets and ensure automatic and continuous evaluation of assets. With the rapid development of technology, the current state of the economy and the future situation are also changing. Today, businesses are rapidly developing and growing by making significant investments in technology and software applications. As a result, businesses have the opportunity to take many advantages by reducing infrastructure investments and administrative costs. Today, businesses that can use digital transformation effectively and efficiently can survive. While businesses that can integrate technology quickly survive, businesses that cannot adapt to technology disappear by falling behind their competitors. For this reason, it is possible for businesses to adapt to technology by using both software and hardware effectively and efficiently. Thanks to the digital twin technology, businesses can gain many advantages such as monitoring and testing a product in a virtual environment before the production phase. Being able to test a product in a virtual environment before the production phase is important in terms of both cost and better quality. Therefore, the ability of businesses to test a product in a virtual environment using digital twin technology before the production phase offers a significant benefit in preventing errors that may arise as a result of the production phase. Along with digital transformation, the inclusion of smart devices in life brings many advantages. With the effect of Industry 4.0, it is important for businesses to use technology more effectively and efficiently. In particular, digital twin technology has an important role in the production process. The ability of this technology to work with sensors allows data to be obtained and processed faster. The adoption of digital transformation by businesses provides a significant increase in product quality. It is also an important factor in achieving financial success. With the digitalization process, significant changes occur in the management approach of businesses. The ability of businesses to adapt to information technologies is an important factor in making management decisions and in production processes. Therefore, the use of digital transformation in the strategic decision stages and processes of enterprises is important in achieving many successes. In this study, primarily the conceptual framework is discussed. Then, the features of digital twin technology, functions of digital twin technology, application areas of digital twin technology are examined.
