Comment on “An advanced blockchain‑based mutual authentication technique for the Internet of vehicles environment”: cryptanalysis and security vulnerabilities

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV), in which vehicles exchange safety–critical information over open wireless channels, is characterized by large-scale, distributed operation, and stringent real-time constraints, requiring efficient and reliable communication mechanisms. Recently, Suyel et al. proposed a blockchain-based mutual authentication and key agreement protocol for IoV environments (The Journal of Supercomputing, 2025, https:// doi. org/ 10. 1007/ s11227- 025- 07934-z), claiming resistance against various attacks under the Dolev–Yao adversarial model. In this paper, we revisit the security of this protocol and demonstrate that its V2V authentication mechanism suffers from a fundamental design weakness. Specifically, the protocol verifies only the algebraic consistency of the received authentication tuple while accepting the verification key directly from the communication channel, without establishing a trustworthy binding between the claimed vehicle identity and the corresponding public key. As a consequence, an adversary can construct mathematically valid authentication messages using its own key pair while impersonating a legitimate vehicle. Based on this observation, we present several practical attacks, including vehicle impersonation, rogue public-key substitution, and message-substitution attacks. Furthermore, we show that the protocol relies on an auxiliary secure channel for final key confirmation, which contradicts the claimed Dolev–Yao threat model and weakens the overall security guarantees. To substantiate our findings, we provide a rigorous cryptanalytic evaluation combining algebraic validity analysis and BAN-logic reasoning. Our results reveal that the protocol fails to ensure reliable vehicle authentication and cannot securely attribute the established session key to the claimed peer identity. Consequently, the security claims of the target scheme do not hold under realistic adversarial conditions in IoV environments.

A novel 6G-oriented secure bidirectional key exchange scheme based on graphene-assisted terahertz physical layer

This paper proposes a graphene-assisted bidirectional key exchange protocol that integrates terahertz (THz) physical-layer modulation with the Diffie–Hellman (DH) cryptographic framework, addressing a critical gap in secure session establishment over open wireless channels. While prior graphene-based antennas, metasurfaces, and sensing platforms have primarily focused on enhancing electromagnetic performance, secure bidirectional key exchange at the physical layer has remained largely unexplored. The proposed architecture employs a dual-layer graphene metasurface operating at 1 THz, where tunable surface conductivity enables binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation for concurrent transmission. Authenticated public parameters, identity bindings, and freshness values are embedded within the THz waveform, and a shared secret is derived through DH computation. Simulation results over an SNR range of 0–30 dB demonstrate reliable demodulation under AWGN, coherent current density distributions across graphene layers, and consistent key agreement between communicating parties. The bit error rate (BER) decreases sharply between 5 and 10 dB, reaches the 10−3 regime at 10 dB, and converges to zero within simulation resolution for SNR values of 15 dB and above, indicating reliable parameter recovery under practical noise conditions. An informal security analysis conducted under the Dolev–Yao adversarial model, together with a comparative assessment of the defined security requirements, indicates that the proposed scheme demonstrates resistance against both passive and active attacks. Furthermore, the comparative evaluation suggests that the proposed framework more comprehensively satisfies the considered security requirements relative to existing schemes. These findings establish the feasibility of graphene-assisted secure key exchange and provide a structured foundation for secure deployment of graphene-enabled terahertz communication systems, particularly within emerging 6G network architectures, as well as in IoT and biomedical applications.

Evaluating the Behavior of Littering in Public Spaces within Different Theoretical Approaches

Public spaces are an important resource for the continuity of community life. However, it should be borne in mind that this resource is not unlimited. While public spaces offer equal rights of use to the whole community, the responsibilities for the maintenance and protection of these areas do not constitute a direct legal obligation for individuals. This situation paves the way for the spread of behaviours that create disorder and pollution in public spaces, such as littering. Littering is a multidimensional phenomenon addressed differently across disciplines, which makes it difficult to evaluate existing studies within a holistic framework and to identify effective solutions. This study aims to develop a comprehensive conceptual framework by comparatively analysing how littering behaviour in public spaces is addressed within environmental criminology, vandalism, and environmental psychology. In doing so, the study synthesizes fragmented literature and clarifies the boundaries, focal points, and explanatory approaches of each discipline. Based on this synthesis, the study proposes an integrated perspective for defining littering behaviour in relation to physical environment, individual factors, and its legal status, and for developing more effective prevention strategies.

Osmanlı Kültüründe Spor ve Sembolizm: Lahanacılar-Bamyacılar Rekabetinin Mimari ve Sanatsal Temsilleri Üzerine Bir İnceleme Banu Parlak Uğurlu1 Giriş Türklerde spor, Türk’ün gücünü, çevikliğini, bedensel yetilerini gösteren milli kültür varlıklarından birisi olagelmiştir. Diğer Türk devletlerinde olduğu gibi Osmanlı Devleti’nde de güreş, avcılık, atıcılık, okçuluk, binicilik, kılıç, ağırlık kaldırma, gürz ve topuz kullanma, cirit, tepük gibi etkinlikler ön planda yer almaktadır. Yarışma biçiminde gerçekleştirilen güreş, binicilik, cirit ve okçuluk gibi sporlar daha sonraki yıllarda gelenekselleşmiş ve ata sporlarımız haline dönüşmüşlerdir Özellikle Osmanlı Devleti’nin ihtişamlı dönemlerinde güreş, atıcılık, binicilik, avcılık, okçuluk ve cirit oyunları sarayın ve padişahın desteklediği sporlar olarak göze çarpmaktadır (Güven, 1999: 11). Osmanlı Devleti’nde geleneksel anlamda spor alanındaki faaliyetlere bakıldığında, üç örgütlenmeden söz edildiği görülmektedir. Bunlardan ilki ve en önemlisi varlığını 21. yüzyılın başına kadar sürdüren spor tekkeleridir (Fişek, 2003: 215-216). Spor tekkelerinin yapıları incelendiğinde, gelirlerini iki kaynaktan aldıkları görülür. Tekke, Osmanlı padişahları tarafından kurulmuş ise “Miri” sayılıyor ve masrafı tekkeyi yaptıran padişahın bağladığı vakıf tarafından karşılandığı bilinmektedir. Bir kısım tekkeler de özel vakıflar ile kurulduğu için, devletin malı yani miri sayılmıyor, gelir gider hesabına o şehrin kadıları bakıyordu (Kahraman, 1989: 3).

Impact of complete dentures on pharyngeal volumes of edentulous individuals with obstructive sleep apnea: A pilot clinical study

Statement of problem: Evidence remains scarce regarding the impact of complete denture use on velopharyngeal (VP), oropharyngeal (OP), hypopharyngeal (HP), and total pharyngeal (TP) volumes in edentulous patients, as assessed by 3-dimensional imaging. Purpose: This pilot clinical study evaluated the effects of complete denture use on VP, OP, HP, and TP volumes in edentulous participants with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Material and methods: Edentulous participants using complete dentures with mild (OSA-1, n=11), moderate (OSA-2, n=9), and severe OSA (OSA-3, n=10) were evaluated. Anthropometric parameters (neck length, neck circumference, and body-mass index [BMI]) and Mallampati classification (MC-12 and MC-34) were recorded. Three-dimensional T2-weighted sagittal MRI scans (2 mm slice thickness) were obtained without dentures (WOD) and with dentures in place (WID). Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) images were analyzed using the ITK-SNAP software program to measure VP, OP, HP, and TP volumes. WOD and WID values were compared using paired t tests (α=.05), and Pearson correlation analysis was performed for anthropometric variables. Results: A positive, moderate correlation was found between neck height and WID-OP, WID-HP, and WID-TP (r=0.436, r=0.492, and r=0.423; P=.016, P=.006, and P=.020, respectively). In the MC-12 group, WID significantly increased OP volume (P=.014), whereas in the MC-34 group, OP and TP volumes decreased significantly (P=.003 and P=.043, respectively). The OSA-1, OSA-2, and OSA-3 groups showed statistically significant differences in OP values under WOD and WID conditions (P=.014, P<.001, and P=.001, respectively). Conclusions: Complete dentures may induce significant volumetric changes in specific pharyngeal regions depending on certain anthropometric features, oropharyngeal morphology, and OSA severity.
