dc.description.abstractDoğu Akdeniz’de keşfedilen enerji rezervlerinin varlığı ile birlikte Kıbrıs Adası’nın jeopolitik önemi daha da artmıştır. Türkiye’nin Doğu Akdeniz’de bulunan enerji pastasından büyük payı alması için Kıbrıs Adası’nın jeopolitiğini de lehine kullanmasının gerekliliği önem arz etmektedir.
dc.description.abstractUluslararası deniz hukukuna göre yapılan antlaşmalarda kullanılan Münhasır Ekonomik Bölge (MEB), Kıta Sahanlığı, Karasuları vb. kavramlarının esas aldıkları nokta jeopolitik ile ilgilidir. Türkiye, Doğu Akdeniz’de hukuki olarak söz sahibi olabilmesi için Kıbrıs Adası’nın jeopolitiği ile ilgili çalışmalar yapmaktadır. Zira keşfedilen enerji rezervleri Kıbrıs Adası çevresinde bir hayli fazladır. Bu enerji sahalarında Kıbrıs Adası’nın yarı söz hakkına sahip Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti (KKTC)’nin ve garantörü olan Türkiye’nin olmadığı bir enerji faaliyeti enerji politikalarında düşünülmemektedir.
dc.description.abstractThe Eastern Mediterranean Sea has always had a geopolitical significance with its historical and cultural background and has been on the crossroad of the world’s one of the most important waterways. The island of Cyprus is located in the triangulation point of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and it became an indispensable part of the basin with its’ geopolitics. The island of Cyprus has been an island that states would want to seize in every period of history.
dc.description.abstractGeopolitical significance of the Cyprus Island has increased significantly since the presence of energy reserves discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is undoubtful that in order to get the biggest share of the energy reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, Turkey should leverage the geopolitics of Cyprus Island to its’ own benefit.
dc.description.abstractThe core of the terminologies that are used in agreements made in accordance with international maritime law such as Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), Continental Shelf, Territorial Waters etc., is related to geopolitics. In order to have a say in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and make legal claims, Turkey must understand the geopolitical significance of the Cyprus Island. Because newly discovered energy reserves are mainly around the Cyprus Island. Any activities regarding the energy reserves on these fields should not be considered without including Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) which has a ‘half ‘say for all the matters on the Island of Cyprus and its’ guarantor, Turkey.
